    IMC is currently hiring a Medical Assistant for our OBGYN Clinic. The Medical Assistant supervises, directs, andmonitors the clinical care assigned to her / him. The Medical Assistantadministers medications, vaccines and performs related duties.

    The MedicalAssistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide carebased on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria forthe pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.

    EDUCATIONHigh School graduateMedical Assistant diplomaLICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONCPRTRAINING/EXPERIENCEOn the job training- 1 year experience in a Doctor's office preferredMedical terminology, EHR knowledge Ability to triage patients, perform CLIA waved tests, administer vaccinations and injections under supervision of a PhysicianAble to add, subtract, divide, calculate percentiles on basic math situationsBasic knowledge of patient care and office skillsAbility to operate simple office machinery, calculator, copier, fax, computerAbility to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, Physicians, staff, management, volunteers and contract employees.

    PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrates respect for patients and families.
    Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care.
    Applies the clinical process to each patient and implements clinical actions.
    Knowledge and the ability to set up and assist with all surgical/diagnostic/treating procedures in the office.
    Assisting with doing messages daily.
    Triaging and assisting patients during clinic hours.
    Scheduling diagnostic testing (CT, U/s, MRI, etc.).Doing precertification for tests if needed.
    Call patients to notify them of date, time, location and any special instruction pertaining to test.
    Making sure orders and precertification are faxed to the appropriate site.
    Assisting with patient call back when new sample medication has been started.
    Assisting with stocking rooms and making sure that all supplies are in the rooms to complete daily task.
    Assisting with giving an up to date list to front office staff on supply order in a timely manner (approx. every third week of the month, to keep monthly cost down and less likely to run out of supplies this way).Knowledge of how to properly sterilize, package and label surgical instruments.
    Knowledge and assisting with how to order medication from the pharmacy.

    Assisting with medication refills (faxed refills, Caretracker refills or patients phone calls).Assisting with other clerical duties but not limited to; answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking messages, filing charts, filing lab results in appropriate patient chart, etc.

    Functions as a positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center.
