Description

The Dover School District is seeking a full-time, year-round Dean/Special Education Administrator for Bellamy Academy, a special education day school program for grades 9-12, focused on social-emotional and behavioral needs.

The Dean of Bellamy Academy provides instructional, operational, and compliance leadership for all building-level special education programs, ensuring alignment with New Hampshire Department of Education requirements, federal and state special education law, and Dover School District policies and procedures.

This role requires both strong administrative leadership and a deep commitment to inclusive, individualized, and trauma-responsive educational practices.

Visionary Leadership & Program Oversight The Dean leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of specialized programming that supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and postsecondary readiness for all students.

This includes oversight of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), student assessment practices, behavioral and therapeutic supports, and transition planning, ensuring each student's program is rigorous, compliant, and responsive to individual needs.

The Dean fosters a professional learning environment grounded in collaboration, reflective practice, and high expectations for both students and staff.

By mentoring faculty, supporting instructional excellence, and modeling inclusive leadership, the Dean strengthens staff capacity and cultivates a culture of shared responsibility for student success.

Compliance, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement In alignment with NH DOE standards and district expectations, the Dean monitors program effectiveness, instructional quality, and student outcomes over time.

The role includes responsibility for building-level program evaluation, staff supervision and support, and the use of data to inform decision-making, continuous improvement, and accountability.

Collaborative Leadership The Dean of Bellamy Academy is an active and contributing member of the Dover High School leadership team, collaborating with building and district administrators to ensure coherence across programs and alignment with district priorities.

The Dean works closely with families, service providers, and community partners to support student engagement, access, and long-term success.

District Alignment & Strategic Impact The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of school goals and objectives aligned with the approved goals of the Dover School Board and the mission and vision of the Dover School District.
