    Description

    The LSU Health Shreveport Children's Center is seeking a skilled and dedicated Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic team.

    The psychologist will play a pivotal role in expanding our current treatment options providing comprehensive psychological assessments, evidence-based interventions, and therapy services to our diverse patient population.


    Key Duties:

    • Patient Assessment and Treatment: Conduct thorough psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and formulate treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. Administer evidence-based psychotherapy to address a range of psychological conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health disorders.
    • Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver individual and group psychotherapy sessions using various therapeutic modalities, applying best practices and staying updated with the latest developments in clinical psychology.
    • Collaborative Care: Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals, including physicians, social workers, speech-language pathologist, behavior therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists, to provide premier patient care and contribute psychological expertise to treatment plans.
    • Program Development: Drive the expansion of our current treatment options by conceptualizing, developing, and implementing innovative psychological treatment programs that address the evolving needs of our patient population.
    • Clinical Supervision: Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to psychology interns, trainees, and junior staff members to ensure the highest standards of care and professional development.
    • Community Outreach: Participate in community engagement activities, workshops, and public speaking events to raise awareness about mental health and promote the services offered by the Health Sciences Center.
    • Grant Writing and Funding: Proactively identify grant opportunities related to mental health research and treatment. Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding for new programs, research initiatives, and equipment.


    The inclusion of an additional Psychologist within the Children's Center is essential to ensure the highest quality service, teaching, and research at LSU Health Shreveport.

    Mental health plays a critical role in overall health outcomes, and having an additional expert dedicated to expanding the Children's Center's treatment options significantly enhances the care we provide to northwest Louisiana community.

    Furthermore, by expanding our treatment options, we can respond more effectively to the evolving mental health challenges faced by our patient population.


    The position will not only provide direct patient care but will also drive the enhancement to the education that occurs in our Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology.

    The psychologist will be responsible for modeling best practices, providing supervision (with live observation and feedback), didactic seminars, case consultation, cultural and ethical practice.

    These responsibilities not only contribute to the growth of doctoral interns but also elevate the quality of psychological services and reinforce the institution's commitment to excellence in patient care and training.

    Qualifications

    The applicant must meet the following:

    • Doctoral degree (Ph.
    D. or Psy.
    D.) in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Advanced experience working with a child population (2 years - 15 years)
    • Possess exceptional skills in providing evidence-based psychotherapy to diverse populations.
    • Possess advanced clinical skills in psychological assessment, case formulation, and diagnostic clarification across a range of neurodevelopmental and psychological conditions, with a focus on evidence-based practices.
    • Substantial experience and expertise in utilizing the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) for the assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. A demonstrated ability to effectively administer and interpret ADOS-2 assessments is essential.
    • Strong knowledge of psychological theories, therapeutic techniques, and treatment modalities.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with professionals from diverse disciplines (Speech, OT, Psychiatry), promoting evidence-based patient care and integrated treatment approaches.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient engagement.
    • Commitment to ethical practices, patient-centered care, and continuous professional development.
    • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of current research trends in psychology, particularly in areas relevant to health and wellness, juvenile justice, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
    • Demonstrate interest in writing grant proposals and secure funding for research and treatment initiatives. This role's emphasis on seeking grant opportunities will not only ensure the sustainability of the position but also contribute to the advancement of the internship and mental health research and treatment.
