Job Description

Oversee the shipping operation and supervise crews.

Job Duties

•Maximize returns to farmer members through service.

•Maintain safety programs implemented by company.

•Become skilled in computer applications used by the company.

•Manage the day-to-day workflow.

•Assign work tasks to employees.

•Ensure employees have a safe working environment.

•Inspect employee's work for quality and quantity.

•Manage costs - labor, electrical, and repairs.

•Work with people and listen to people.

•Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.

•Present monthly safety/sanitation training.

•Selects, trains, disciplines, and terminates employees according to Riceland policies.

•Plans daily shipping schedule for all goods shipped from the New Madrid facility.

•Controls all clean rice bin inventory at New Madrid.

•Assists Mill Superintendent and Rough Rice Manager in establishing the mill operating schedule.

•Understand the department's expenses, make charts or reports which explain these monthly expenses.

•Strive to eliminate as much unplanned downtime as practical.

•Determine the root cause of any opportunity or problem before developing any or all action plans.

•Be prepared to work days, nights, weekends. May need to switch shifts on a short notice.

•Ability to lift up to 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs with assistance.

•Safety Sensitive Position

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Shipping Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Riceland's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Preferably 2+ years industrial experience or 1+ years' experience at New Madrid Mill.
