    **Job Overview:**

    The Office of the Surgeon General is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Obstetrics and Gynecology Nurse to join our Army healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to women throughout all stages of their reproductive health journey, from adolescence through pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. As an integral member of our OBGYN team, you will play a crucial role in assisting physicians, educating patients, and ensuring high-quality care delivery

    **Responsibilities**

    1. **Patient Care:**

    Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to women in various stages of their reproductive health journey, including prenatal care, labor and delivery assistance, postpartum care, family planning, and menopausal supprt.

    2. **Assessment and Monitoring:**

    Conduct thorough assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to identify and address patients' healthcare needs.

    3. **Assistance in Procedures:**

    Assist OBGYN physicians in various medical procedures and surgeries, such as cesarean sections, hysterectomies, and colposcpies.

    4. **Education and Counseling:**

    Educate patients and their families about reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, contraceptive options, and menopausal changes. Provide emotional support and counseling to address patients' concerns and quetions.

    5. **Medication Administration:**

    Administer medications, vaccines, and intravenous fluids as prescribed by physicians. Monitor patients for adverse reactions and side effects.

    6. **Documentation and Recordkeeping:** Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient assessments, treatments, medications administered, and progress notes, in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

    7. **Collaboration:**

    Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, midwives, nurse practitioners, and support staff, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.

    8. **Patient Advocacy:**

    Advocate for patients' rights, preferences, and healthcare needs within the healthcare system. Assist patients in navigating healthcare resources and support services.

    9. **Continuing Education:**

    Stay current with advances in obstetrics and gynecology nursing practice, evidence-based guidelines, and healthcare regulations through ongoing education and professional

    development activities.

    10. **Quality Improvement:**

    Participate in quality improvement initiatives and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes wit

    hin the OBGY department.

    **Qulifications:**

    United States Citizen

    Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required from an accredited United States Institution.

    Certification in Obstetric and Gynecologic Nursing (RNC-OB) preferred.

    -BLS certification.

    Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to provide compassionate and culturally sensitive care to diverse patient populations.

    Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical documentation.

    Commitment to patient advocacy, safety, and quality care delivery.

    **Work Environment:**

    This position primarily operates within a hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology department, including labor and delivery units, postpartum units, and surgical suites. The work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and medical emergencies. The OBGYN nurse may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on departmental needs.
