Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps has been providing opportunities for youth and young adults to learn, grow, and experience success.
Our programs focus on education, challenge, community, leadership and empowerment, and typically include epic outdoor experiences in some of the most wild and scenic places on Earth.
Our suite of programs have something to offer both a teenager looking for their first summer work experience and a recent college grad needing specific certifications to land their dream job.
We partner with land management agencies and like-minded non-profits across the west to complete high priority conservation projects designed to improve the lands and communities in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
The Outdoor Affinity Programs Coordinator (OAPC) is a critical member of the Conservation Corps program team who works to coordinate and support the successful participation of underrepresented youth and young adult applicants into Northwest Youth Corps programs.
This position works closely with land management partners to plan, schedule, and execute critical resource management projects with the crews they oversee.

Work specifically to support teams from historically underrepresented communities in the successful completion of NYC programming.
Department Supervision and collaborations
This position is supervised by the state program manager in the assigned location
This position will supervise seasonal field staff and/or contractors.
This position collaborates with Member Services and Operations Departments.
Serve as a lead trainer in field skills and protocols.
Provide ongoing feedback and support to crewleaders around safety and risk management topics.
Serve as a field responder and/or supporter for field staff managing a medical and/or mental health situation in the field
JOB DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Engaging with community partners to plan and schedule service projects in urban centers.
Working directly with tribal partners to build culturally relevant programming.
Build new relationships with stakeholders and stakeholder groups
Workwithavarietyofinternalandexternalstakeholderstoensureprograms have logistical support as needed.
Hiring and training seasonal field leaders who manage day-to-day crew
Providing technical and social/emotional support to field staff and crews prior to and during the implementation of
Overseeing the tracking of crew accomplishments, paperwork and reporting
Ensure NYC safety, education and workplace standards are
Support the learning, growth, and success of participants and leaders.
Help NYC analyze and adjust elements of our Urban and Community programs for continuous improvement.
