Wiley University is looking for an English Instructor who will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in English, literature, and co-requisite English courses, as well as conducting scholarly research and engaging in service activities within the academic community. The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for teaching, a dedication to scholarly inquiry, and an eagerness to contribute to the intellectual life of the university.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and deliver undergraduate English courses, including co-requisite English and writing lab courses, aimed at improving students' reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods, technology tools, and active learning strategies to effectively engage a diverse student body.
• Provide valuable feedback on student assignments to foster academic growth.
• Design curriculum materials and assessments for English courses, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and best practices.
• Integrate writing process strategies and grammar instruction to support students' writing development.
• Manage the writing lab and provide guidance to writing tutors and mentors.
• Organize training programs for writing lab staff to enhance their tutoring skills.
• Offer academic support to students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
• Facilitate student workshops and peer review sessions to encourage collaborative learning.
• Collaborate with campus support services to provide comprehensive academic support to students.
• Engage in scholarly activities and professional development related to composition studies and writing education.
• Stay updated on developments in the field through participation in conferences and organizations.
• Contribute to scholarly literature through publications and research endeavors.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in English or a related field. Expertise in composition pedagogy and writing program administration. Experience in teaching English courses at the college level. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
