    $16.05HR/$33,384.00 Annually

    MAJOR FUNCTION
    Semi-skilled work in the maintenance, installation, and repair of utility mains and appurtenances.


    ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES


    Assists and learns in the following operational duties: repairs of water, sewer and reuse mains and service lines varying in size; tapping water and sewer mains; the installation of water meters; valve and hydrant maintenance & repairs; clean sanitary sewer manholes, mains and lift stations; video inspect sanitary gravity mains; work alongside experienced operator's for proper procedures for customer related issues; stock vehicle with associated inventory and supplies and perform other duties required in this entry level position in the operation and maintenance of the distribution and collection systems.

    Performs related duties as required as entry level intro to distribution and collection system maintenance.

    KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

    Entry level knowledge of the materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting and skill in their use.

    Ability and agility to perform various job duties in all weather conditions including lifting and/or interacting with job related appurtenances and equipment which might weigh in excess of forty-five (45) pounds.

    Ability to see colors. Ability to perform tasks that require eye and hand coordination. Ability to absorb and learn independently and receive instruction, drive various vehicles, bend, stoop, sit, and stand. Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.


    Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment in this classification.

    Must have appropriate water distribution license or obtain within (24) months of hire date. Rule by the FDEP.

    A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.


    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT


    Must have a home telephone at the time of employment as employee is subject to call out to assist in emergencies.


    This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
