Oversees all
DMS administrative appeals filed by AR Medicaid beneficiaries Ensures all parties involved follow DHS Processes and Procedures for administrative appeals.

Is involved in UR/
DMS

meetings involving program needs, operating procedures, coding policies, or any topic which may have a direct impact on appeals and the appeal process.

Is involved in monitoring program or service delivery effectiveness and compliance and identifying problem areas through tracking appeal numbers and subject matter.

Acts as a resource for internal personnel on appeal policies and processes, as well as benefit levels/type information. Maintains the ability to interpret and apply Hospice Provider Policy and oversees the utilization of the Hospice Lock-in document.

Performs administrative duties by reviewing and analyzing data, compiling Information, preparing reports and correspondence, and researching and recommending legislation, trends, and program needs.

Stays up to date of Official Notices and Remittance Advice Messages and the impact each may have on appeals.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary
The Department of Human Services (DHS) Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating a statewide program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions

Supervises a professional and administrative support staff by interviewing and recommending for hire, training employees or arranging training opportunities, assigning and reviewing work and special projects, evaluating the performance of incumbents, and conducting staff meetings to address problems and obtain status reports.

Establishes short and long-range goals, plans, and activities. Develops or participates in the development of operating policies and procedures, staffing, and program needs. Defines monitoring methods, monitors program or service delivery effectiveness and compliance, identifies problem areas, and initiates corrective action.

Provides technical assistance to internal and external personnel by disseminating and interpreting laws, policies, and procedures Coordinates personnel and activities to identify program needs, problems, and progress and implement revisions or corrections.

Monitors and approves program expenditures, prepares budget requests for program operations and develops and monitors provider contracts.

Performs administrative duties by reviewing and analyzing statistical data, compiling Information, preparing reports and correspondence, and researching and recommending legislation, trends, and program options.

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing specialized program area. Knowledge of human service programs and resources. Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel management and budgetary procedures. Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others. Ability to develop, evaluate and analyze programs, services, policies and procedures and implement needed changes. Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and regulations governing program area. Ability to prepare, present and review oral and written information and reports.
Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, business Management, or a related field; plus three years of experience in social service program organization, development, administration, or related area.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
