    Overview

    Radiation Oncology Nurse


    Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center - Central Oregon's largest privately owned cancer center - is looking for an exceptional Registered Nurses (RN) to support our Radiation Oncology care team at our Eugene, OR clinic.

    Oncology experience is a plus, and previous Radiation Oncology experience highly preferred. This individual must also possess strong multi-tasking abilities and bring positivity and passion to their work.     The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $ $54.40.

    The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to:
    prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

    Responsibilities


    • Assist physicians in procedures to include internal radiation.
    • Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions and initiates appropriate action.
    • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
    • Administers all correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.
    • Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
    • Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
    • Assures nursing charges are accurate and complete on patient fee slips.
    • Acts as a resource person to the medical assistants.
    • Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
    • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
    • Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary.
    • Follows OSHA guidelines when handling biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
    • Always maintains patient confidentiality.
    Qualifications


    • RN degree with at least three (3) years nursing experience
    • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education
    • Current OR State RN Licenses
    • Current CPR/BLS certification
    • Radiation and Oncology experience preferred.
