    TREAT Reactor Operator

    Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a TREAT Reactor Operator to work in our TREAT Operations department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.

    The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is looking for candidates for a TREAT Nuclear Reactor Operator reporting to Nuclear Facility Manager within the Transient Reactor Test (TREAT) facility. If you want to be part of ensuring nuclear energy research and development, including deployment of next-generation nuclear reactors then this position is for you.

    Responsibilities Include:

    INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design and fabrication, and post irradiation analysis. MFC is plays an important role in supporting the National Reactor Innovation Center, which provides resources for testing, demonstration, and performance assessment to accelerate the deployment of new, advanced nuclear technology concepts.

    The TREAT Nuclear Reactor Operator performs operations of the reactor in both low power and transient operating modes. Other tasks of the position are:

    Function:

    • Operate the TREAT reactor and experiments in a safe and efficient manner as specified in TREAT Program documents.

    • Perform tasks such as steady state and transient operations and fuel manipulations by TREAT Reactor Engineering and the experiment sponsors.

    • Perform final assembly of experiments including connection of instrumentation.

    • Write and review procedures.

    • Establish safe conditions for conduct of maintenance.

    • Provide oversight to subcontractor facility modifications.

    • Monitor system health, including development of plans for improving system safety.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:
    • TS0300 / TS0400: Nuclear Navy experience, nuclear NEC, ETN, MMN, EMN, level or above with HS Diploma and +2-4 years.
    • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

    • Salary Grade: TS $72,528 - $119,652)/TS $83,412 - $137,592)
