- Oversee a systematic and integrated donor relations and stewardship program that encompasses donor acknowledgement, recognition and impact. This also includes monitoring overall retention of donors.
- Design and implement appropriate recognition initiatives for all levels of giving, including a variety of communication methods such as videos, emails and letters.
- Proactively support the stewardship responsibilities of the advancement staff by assisting them in establishing and coordinating individualized stewardship plans for principal donors (over $500,000 annually).
- Regularly monitor and report donor retention statistics to both advancement and university leadership and work with the director of annual giving and the executive director of alumni and philanthropic engagement on strategies to maximize retention amongst all constituencies.
- Ensure donors receive meaningful stewardship through impact reporting. This can take on a variety of forms with the goal of sharing the importance of a donor's support and the impact of their gift to the university.
- Utilize donor database Blackbaud Fundraising Performance Management (FPM) to document and track acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications and cultivation of donors.
- Incorporate relevant stewardship platforms to recognize donors including ThankView, ODDER, Pledgemine and GiveCampus.
- Remain competent and current through professional development in the fields of donor engagement and stewardship.
- Display a genuine attitude of "team player," eagerly willing to assist division members in accomplishing overall goals.
- Demonstrate the qualities of self-direction, professionalism, and sound independent decision making.

Description
The Director of Donor Engagement will be an innovative and collaborative team member in the Office of Philanthropy and Engagement. They will be responsible for designing and implementing plans to acknowledge, recognize and communicate philanthropic impact to university donors. This position will be expected to steward in a donor-centered manner through a variety of avenues including gift acknowledgement, recognition opportunities, custom and standardized stewardship reporting and annual donor communications that serve to further engage and cultivate existing as well as new donors. This position will have both behind-the-scenes and external-facing components as it relates to donor relations and supporting the mission of the university.
Job Duties
A bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of three to five years' experience in higher education or a comparably complex organization in fundraising, stewardship, advancement services or related field.
