Job Overview:

The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for measuring, inspecting, updating, and documenting many different types of surveys using specialized surveying instruments.

They will determine the precise location of roads, bridges, buildings, and proper depths for building foundations.


Responsibilities:
Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials

Provide checking of as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques

Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities

Provide quantity calculations as required

Prepares documentation of surveying activities

Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment

Coordinate surveying activities to meet construction requirements

Ability to use all surveying equipment and techniques

Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules

Compiles notes, sketches and records of data obtained, and work performed

Knowledge of the methods of calculations employed in leveling, traversing, stadia, topographic surveys, mapping, construction surveys, laying out curves and determination of volumes

Direct Foreman, Instrument Person(s), Rod/Chain Person(s), and other subordinate members of survey team in safe manner. Perform layout work, check as-built conditions, and stake out clearing boundaries and reference points on site

Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects

Create digital maps and detailed reports

Education/Experience Requirements:

2+ years of surveying in construction or a design atmosphere

Familiar with all types of survey equipment

Trimble software, preferably Trimble Access

UAV license is not required but would be a plus

AutoCAD is not required but would be a plus
