    Description

    Summary

    This Dental Assistant role is part of the Surgical Service at the Providence VA Healthcare System in Providence, RI, offering a full-time position with 40 hours per week.

    Duties

    Dental Assistants at this level support dentists in various aspects of patient care and handle clinical and clerical tasks independently. They prepare patients for treatment, assist dentists during procedures, and work closely with specialists in areas like endodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and periodontics. Additionally, they promote teamwork by collaborating with team members, departments, and volunteers to ensure efficient task completion. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Preparing treatment rooms with necessary instruments and medications
    • Assisting with patient seating and draping
    • Receiving and scheduling patients for treatment
    • Preparing and sterilizing instruments
    • Documenting medical and dental information
    • Supporting oral surgery procedures
    • Ensuring aseptic conditions and instrument preparation
    • Teaching and mentoring dental assisting students
    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00a-4:30p
