The WVU Foundation Development Team at the WVU Cancer Institute is eager to retain one (1) WVU intern. The position would entail approximately hours per week. The position is hybrid in nature.Preference is for students with outstanding organizational and soft skills, who can work some weekend/evening hours for certain events and for students who can work some hours during the summer term.
The WVU Foundation intern/student worker at the WVU Cancer Institute will focus on fundraising efforts, with an emphasis on special events, community relations, and donor stewardship.
Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, Events and Community Relations, the intern/student worker will assist with events on and off campus (with travel required at times out of town), outreach and communication efforts related to those events and activities, as well as administrative tasks related to annual giving fundraising and related campaigns.
The intern/student worker should possess professionalism appropriate for interactions with outside professionals, leadership-level major gift donors, and other community and institutional leaders.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required, as is a high level of organizational skill. The successful candidate will operate with close attention to detail and will welcome the challenge of multiple, overlapping deadlines. The student/intern will possess education and/or experience in special events, public relations, communications, fundraising, media and/or marketing.The successful candidate can meet the physical demands related to event setup, management, and tear down and can lift 15 pounds.
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software, as well as willingness to quickly learn other internal proprietary platforms, including Blackbaud's CRM donor/fund management platform, is required.
