    Job DescriptionSenior Buyer

    We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Buyer to join our client's procurement team. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for overseeing the purchasing activities of the organization, ensuring that goods and services are procured in a cost-effective and timely manner while maintaining high quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain management, and the ability to foster positive relationships with suppliers. This is a Contract position located near Oakbrook IL.

    Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier performance. Identify new suppliers and evaluate their capabilities to ensure alignment with organizational needs.
    • Manage relationships with existing suppliers, negotiate contracts, and terms of agreements to achieve favorable terms and conditions. Continuously evaluate supplier performance and address any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
    • Analyze inventory levels, sales forecasts, and demand patterns to determine optimal purchasing levels. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, and ensure timely procurement of goods and services to support business operations.
    • Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Implement strategies to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations throughout the procurement process. Monitor and enforce adherence to ethical and legal standards in vendor selection and contract negotiation.
    • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions. Monitor market trends, geopolitical factors, and other external influences that may impact procurement activities.
    • Promote supplier diversity initiatives and seek opportunities to engage with minority-owned, women-owned, and other diverse suppliers. Foster an inclusive procurement process that reflects the values and goals of the organization.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the procurement team. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
    • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with at least [X years] in a senior buyer or equivalent role.
    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Solid understanding of contract law, purchasing best practices, and industry trends.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others.
    • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Pay is $30- $40 an hour depending on experience
