Description
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the critical care and medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.Duties and Responsibilities
Focused on patient safety, submits incident reports to the incident reporting system, and communicates with management to learn from mistakes and improve patient outcomes.8.
Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise the plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment, and evaluate the overall plan daily for effectiveness.9.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.10.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias, and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocol.11. Rounds on patients hourly and documents appropriately.12. Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary. Oversees care of all patients in the ICU unit and assigns appropriate tasks to LPNs on the unit. Ensures that every patient on the unit receives an assessment from an RN every shift.13. Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians.14. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.15. Provides care appropriate to the disease condition and age of the patient.16. Charges for supplies and procedures, as instructed, in a thorough and timely manner.17. Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures. 18. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, and organized and function well under stressful situations.19. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses the psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.Minimum Requirements Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Utah RN License.
Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications or will be obtained within six months. This position is for PRN night shif.
