    BASIC PURPOSE:
    Responsible for serving as main point of contact between NCLH and our satellite provider(s). Provide 3rd level escalation support for satellite related issues and/or service degradation across the fleet (and islands).

    Act as the technical subject matter expert on current and new satellite technology and connectivity including but not limited to ship-to-shore methods of connectivity.

    This includes bandwidth analysis, optimization mechanisms, projects, and systems.


    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Provide Level III technical support to internal customers in meetings with external partners to assist and provide technical solutions.
    Provide feedback and guidance to the business on satellite related efforts, projects and or tasks.
    Translate business needs into system concept by partnering with various departments within NCLH.
    Initiate timely technical and management escalation as required. Utilize discretion and knowledge of best practices to effectively communicate severity of outages to necessary parties.
    Ensure satellite provider Service Level Agreements (SLA) are meet and remain in compliance.
    Provide coaching, mentoring and support to system managers and other IT staff as required.
    Synthesize end-to-end satellite-centric system designs that meet requirements.
    Act as System Architect/Designer of space and terrestrial systems revolving about satellite connectivity.
    Perform other job-related functions as assigned.


    KNOWLEDGE AND

    EXPERIENCE:

    EDUCATION:
    Bachelors in telecommunications, information technology or engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Master's Preferred.


    EXPERIENCE:
    5+ years' experience in Satellite/Network industry, Experience in satellite deployment, operation and support is desired. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification and/or equivalent experience is required.

    KNOWLEDGE &


    SKILLS:
    Technical knowledge of satellite hardware and applications. Experience with Bandwidth optimization software and hardware. Experience with earth stations. Knowledge of network connectivity and switching technology needed to work and interact with the network team. Ability to read, write and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and original equipment manufacturer guides, within reasonable accommodation. Must be able to explain technical subjects to a non-technical audience. Ability to work well in a team-based environment as well as working independently. Good organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to provide support after hours for emergency situations, on-call work rotation with team when necessary. Position entails frequent bending, climbing, crouching, and stooping. Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift/install potentially heavy hardware equipment, within reasonable accommodation. Working conditions typically include climate-controlled office environment or potential extreme environments including heat and cold temperatures. Knowledge of mid-level knowledge and understanding of IP routing (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS). Knowledge of Network Management Systems (Solarwinds, EM7, HP OpenView, Nagios, Netcool, ZenOSS). Knowledge of satellite and wireless communications.


    The salary range for this position is: $92,000 - $115,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

    Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
