    Overview:

    As Boyne Mountain continues to expand its resort offering, we are looking for a passionate, winter-enthusiast to lead our snowmaking team year-round. In addition to installing the first high-speed 8-passenger lift in the Midwest, replacing several existing chair and surface lifts, we have also increasing snowmaking coverage as the first step in a multi-year, multi-million-dollar snowmaking system upgrade.     Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities

    • Actively monitoring and supporting daily operations of the snowmaking team including but not limited to: performing duties of all snowmaking positions; acting as a working foreman; planning work assignments; monitoring work in progress and checking completed work; skiing/riding to test product; coordinating with other departments.
    • Managing department administrative tasks (hiring, scheduling, budgeting, training, time keeping, ordering, inventory)
    • Ensuring successful (safe and efficient) charging, operation, and shutting down of the snowmaking system.
    • Planning, coordinating, and performing a wide variety of snowmaking maintenance tasks as required to keep the system operational or expand capabilities. Assisting with the development and implementation of capital expense planning for snowmaking (maintenance and expansion).
    • Regularly inspecting all snowmaking work areas, including pump houses and all equipment and tools, to ensure proper function, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards.
    • Ensuring that preventative maintenance on all snowmaking equipment is performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and/or company standards and maintaining maintenance/repair records.
    • Coordinating daily pre-shift safety talks and conducting weekly safety meetings. Ensuring all meetings are documented.
    • Regularly monitoring safety compliance with Company & MIOSHA standards. Taking prompt action to address deficiencies.
    • Troubleshooting: locating and diagnosing problems within the snowmaking system.
    • Maintaining a working knowledge of the snowmaking control software and be able to help others troubleshoot. Communicating with colleagues and contractors to diagnose and repair as needed.
    • Developing the Snowmaking Plan with the Mountain Manager and Director of Mountain Operations. Communicating the plan with snowmaking leaders to ensure understanding and proper implementation. Monitoring results.
    • Sustainability: understanding system energy consumption and working to reduce costs without compromising quality.
    • Assisting other departments as requested during periods of high volume, to maximize guest experience.
    Qualifications:

    Qualification

    • Associate degree or equivalent from college or technical school plus 4-years of experience in snowmaking; OR at least 6-years of related experience in snowmaking; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
    • PLUS at least 2-years of supervisory experience
    • Ski/ride proficiency at an intermediate level or greater
    • Broad base of advanced knowledge and skills related to compressor/pump mechanics, electrical systems, instrumentation, welding, pipe laying and construction.
    • Proficient with computers including Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn other technology
    • Friendly, personable, and empathetic
    • Passionate about winter sports, the outdoors or hospitality
    • Desire to learn new skills and help others
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
    • Detail oriented, organized, and able to quickly prioritize tasks and adapt accordingly
    • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
    • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, with varying hours based on season
