    DINING ENTERPRISES:

    Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), the largest auxiliary organization at Stanford University, supports the academic mission of the University by providing high-quality services to students and other members of the university community.

    The department has an annual operating budget of over $350M, operates 24/7/365, and oversees a $3B asset portfolio comprising a 7 million sq.

    ft. physical plant across the campus.

    In autumn quarter of the academic year, R&DE will return to providing housing for over 13,000 students and dependents, serving meals at 17 dining halls, 12retail locations, and operating athletic concessions and conference operations.

    Additionally, R&DE comprises 900 FTE staff in the following divisions:

    Student Housing Operations, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, Maintenance Operations and Capital Projects, and a team of R&DE strategic business partners: Finance & Administration, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Strategic Communications.

    This role is currently designated as hybrid and may provide incumbents with flexibility for partial telecommuting.

    Perform the day-to-day management of a design and drafting team that supports numerous facility-related projects for a large university housing, dining, and hospitality facilities portfolio.

    Provide technical and managerial guidance to subordinates and bring highly specialized knowledge and expertise to high level administrative managers. Offer a thorough knowledge of architecture practice and develop/maintain design standards.
    Lead and manage a project design group, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, evaluating, and setting priorities. Provide instruction on complex techniques and direction on projects.

    Evaluate the effectiveness of the organizational structure and programs to ensure success, development of employees, and appropriate use of staff resources.

    Ensure design and drafting work completion within schedule, budgetary and design constraints; make decisions about analysis, design, and testing of assumptions; Make independent decisions regarding projects, programs, and initiatives within confines established by management.

    Develop and manage budgets for work group.
    Complete strategic planning for own work group; may assist higher level management in broader scope strategic planning.

    Lead design efforts and space planning for both interiors and exteriors of a portfolio of housing/dining/hospitality facilities consisting of 7 million square feet across 300 buildings, including new construction, renovations, and historic preservation.

    Facilities include college dorms, historic houses, apartments for couples and families, dining halls and serveries, commercial kitchens, and retail cafes.

    Work collaboratively with colleagues to leverage the university/school's resources for successful project completion.

    Participate on and contribute to the leadership team led by the Assistant Vice Provost for Maintenance Operations and Capital Projects, Residential & Dining Enterprises.

    Champion and further department's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts, particularly in support of historically underrepresented and disenfranchised populations.

    Bachelor's degree in a related field, and five or more years of progressively responsible, relevant project management experience performing duties similar to those listed above or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Experience leading and managing an organization of technical design and drafting staff.
    Experience leading large, complex projects or programs.
    Demonstrated ability to organize work and to manage multiple projects.
    In-depth knowledge and understanding of university operations, administration, community, and mission.

    Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

    Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.
    Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.
    Proficient in drafting software.

    Thorough knowledge of architecture practice with emphasis on design, building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering disciplines, building costs/codes, and sustainable and universal design.

    Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

    Occasionally use a telephone, write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.

    Ability to maintain a valid non-commercial California Driver's license.
    Visual acuity with ability to determine colors for finishes.
    Ability to climb scaffolding, ladders, stairs etc.
    May work in active laboratories or outdoor environments.
    May be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures, be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise
    80dB TWA, allergens/biohazards/chemicals /asbestos, or heavy metals or work on roofs at heights greater than 10 ft.
    May drive vehicle day and night.
    Must wear personal protective equipment as defined/required by job assignments.
    May work extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
