    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Certification Required: Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities (K-12)
    • Dual Certification Preferred: Any Secondary and/or Middle Level Content Area
    • At least 3 years teaching in a special education classroom preferred
    • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and local district policies and procedures
    • Ability to drive an instructional program and lead a team

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Assist the Coordinator of Student Services in insuring the implementation of the Administrative Manual; Programs for Exceptional Children, IDEA regulations, and Delmar School District local operational procedures
    • Assist the Principal with completion of the September 30th Unit/Needs Based Funding and the December 1st Child Find Counts for children with disabilities
    • Serve as lead/chair of IEP meetings, organizing the team and leading the discussion with stakeholders
    • Schedule IEP and 504 meetings and other meetings as required
    • Provide written notice of an IEP meeting to all team members at least one month prior to the scheduled meeting date
    • Utilize the IEP Plus System to ensure IEP documents are prepared and opened for staff to develop a draft IEP document one month prior to the IEP meeting
    • Participate in/facilitate IEP and other educational meetings to discuss progress toward developmental, emotional, social, and behavioral goals
    • Scan and upload all compliance documents for each annual review, revision, and eligibility determination
    • Ensure legal and instructional compliance with all required documentation
    • Complete educational assessment reports and keep files on these assessments
    • Maintain confidentiality of student records by adhering to FERPA
    • Maintain and audit the special education record for all children receiving special education and related services
    • Knowledge of students with significant disabilities
    • Assist the IEP team in developing targeted intervention(s) and/or services to increase student achievement based on individual student data
    • Request the special education records for all new children with disabilities transferring into the Delmar School District and schedule a transfer IEP meeting within 60 days of the student transferring into the District
    • Attend school-based student intervention and support meetings
    • Collaborate with staff to monitor students with high rates of discipline infractions to ensure the provision of FAPE and Procedural Safeguards
    • Support teachers and specialist with progress monitoring through review of data and monitoring for progress for each student
    • Perform duties and prepare reports as necessary for recordkeeping and student assessment
    • Facilitate the development of, and/or revision of a behavior support plan derived from a functional behavior assessment
    • Conduct an IEP Revision Meeting when a student is not making progress on his/her IEP goals
    • Assist the IEP team in reviewing data to determine if criteria are met for participation in 12-Month Programming and/or Extended School Year services in accordance with Delaware Regulations
    • Attend and participate in professional development and training, opportunities, meetings, supervision, and special events
    • Participate in review of program policies and procedures
    • Perform non-instructional responsibilities
    • Consult and collaborate with instructional staff to collect data, identify student need, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes
    • Work cooperatively with District-Level Administration
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Services and/or Building Administration
    SALARY: As per State and Local Salary Schedules for FY25 based upon experience and educational degree
