    Successful candidates will be responsible for overseeing comprehensive aspects of accounting, finance, and financial reporting functions, tailored to the unique needs of a privately held company and mortgage banking clients.

    Selected individuals will play a key role in driving financial performance, implementing effective financial controls, account reconciliation and providing strategic guidance to support growth objectives.

    Ideal candidates will have a strong background in the mortgage banking sector and possess exceptional leadership/management, analytical, and entrepreneurial skills.

    Responsibilities:


    Lead and manage accounting and finance functions in the mortgage banking sector, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance, and adherence to accounting standards, account reconciliations and current regulatory practices.


    Prepare and/or audit financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, providing management with insightful analysis and recommendations for decision-making in an entrepreneurial environment.


    Develop and implement financial strategies, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support our growth objectives, taking into account the unique and evolving dynamics of a privately held company.


    Collaborate closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance and support for strategic initiatives, including capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and business expansion.


    Implement and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


    Drive financial analysis to evaluate the company's, division and department financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and make recommendations for improvement, aligned with the entrepreneurial spirit and agile decision-making.


    Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, opportunistic recommendations, providing regular reporting and actionable insights to support business decisions and foster accountability throughout the organization.


    Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes in the mortgage banking sector, adapting them to the specific needs and opportunities of a privately held company.

    Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions to ensure compliance and efficient financial operations.


    Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth in an entrepreneurial setting.



    Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or CPA qualification is highly preferred.


    Proven experience as an Accounting and Finance Executive, Controller, or similar leadership role in the mortgage banking sector, with a focus on privately held entrepreneurial companies.


    In-depth knowledge of mortgage banking industry regulations, accounting principles (e.g., GAAP), and financial reporting standards, adapted to the unique needs of privately held companies.


    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, make recommendations and provide actionable insights in an entrepreneurial context.

    Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling techniques, considering the agility and dynamic nature of entrepreneurial organizations.

    Experience in strategic financial planning, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and business expansion within the mortgage banking sector.

    Proficient in using financial management software and advanced MS Excel skills.

    Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

    Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.


    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively present financial information to stakeholders and articulate financial strategies in an entrepreneurial context.

    Demonstrated track record of operating independently while producing results with limited oversight and direction.

    Ability to adapt to changing priorities, embrace ambiguity, and demonstrate resilience in a rapidly evolving entrepreneurial environment.

    (Salary/compensation:
    $100-150k+ DOE)
