The LPN Student Nurse Extern provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies procedures and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health.Under direction of the RN supports the nurse in applying nursing process Works to develop critical thinking skills through collaboration with RN ensure quality patient care delivery Provides basic patient care including but not limited to taking vital signs personal hygiene mobility unit-based specialty duties
Acts as liaison between patient and nurse report changes concerns nurse Provides high level customer service all patients family visitors employees Provides accurate precise timely documentation when applicable for patient care Participates hand-off/report pertinent information regarding patient departmental needs arrival leaving Performs delegated tasks once competency validated
