    Job Description

    Job Purpose:

    This position has financial and controllership responsibility for the Cincinnati Network division. This includes management and review of financial statements, monthly close, balance sheet and income statement analysis, internal control review and compliance with SOX, Regulatory, and other required reporting. Position reports to the VP Corporate Controller, supervises Accounting Managers and staff and interacts collaboratively with Tax, Treasury, Regulatory, IT, Audit and Business and Consumer markets.

    Essential Functions:
    • 25% - Supervises and reviews monthly financial statements for the operational companies within the Network segment.
    • 25% - Responsible for governmental regulatory compliance including USF, ERATE, Rural Health Care (RHC), Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), and annual reporting with the FCC and state Public Utility Commissions for altafiber and Hawaiian Telcom.
    • 15% - Performs overall review of General Ledger account reconciliations, fixed assets and balance sheet, reserve analysis, and other financial information.
    • 10% - Collaborates with other functions on new business reporting, regulatory requirements, and other aspects of compliance; responsible for both GAAP and FCC accounting compliance
    • 10% - Coordinates staffing, coaching, and development for accounting staff
    • 10% - Supports financial research, accounting guidance implementation, audit memos, and other projects as needed
    • 5% - Provides support for systems developments and process improvements
    • The Company is in the early stages of a Financial System Upgrade project for which this individual will be an essential member of the project team and establishing accounting processes and policies on the system.
    Education:

    Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

    Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
    • CPA and/or MBA Preferred
    Relevant Work Experience:
    • 8 to 15 years Demonstrated experience in financial statement preparation and analysis
    • Demonstrated experience in general accounting or auditing with SEC experience
    • Demonstrated success in communication and problem-solving
    • Big 4 experience - (PWC, E-Y, Deloitte, KPMG)
    Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Division controllership role including knowledge of General Ledger reporting, Shared Services and transactional processes, internal controls, and staff management. Financial statement preparation and analysis including understanding of budgets, management reporting, consolidations, and some external reporting. Collaborative experience working with Tax, Internal and external auditors, Business markets, Information Technology, and other operating departments
