    Manages safety programs and enforces all safety rules and procedures set forth by Evergreen North America / GEM and the plants that are worked in. The Branch Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA and State DEQ safety compliance requirements for his/ her assigned location's of responsibility.

    When the Branch Safety Manager is performing job safety observations (JSO) or performing audits, he/ she reports and helps resolve all safety infractions and deficiencies to the immediate supervisor responsible for deficiency to branch and qualified solution.

    The Branch Safety Manager is considered to be a professional and responsible member of the branch and regional management team, that must display a high level of leadership in: 1) Safety 2) Training 3) Employee motivation and development 4) Developing continuous improvement strategies for safety meetings and general safety department efficiency improvement 5) Developing strategies toward improving communications and safety department respect with fellow employees 6) Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with our customers 7) Facilitate the Implementation of the elements of OHSHA VPP for the branch and the qualified facilities.

    The Branch Safety Manager will interface with corporate, regional, and branch management to ensure all safety and training issues are being properly communicated and within State and Federal compliance standards.

    The Branch Safety Manager will be expected to work plant turnarounds and shutdowns as deemed important by branch management.

    The Branch Safety Manager will be expected to help in the interviewing, hiring and training of new employees. He/ she will be responsible for the on-going training of Evergreen North America / GEM employees as required by the company.

    The Branch Safety Manager will have a direct line of responsibility to the Regional Safety Director.

    Summary of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Performs job safety observations and audits and entering into our safety management system

    2. Conducts weekly/ bi-monthly/ monthly safety meetings and entering into our safety management system

    3. Conducts/ helps participate in special training meetings, annual review training and all periodic safety training updates.

    4. Investigates and brings to resolution any near misses and accidents in our safety management system

    5. Ensures all training, medical, driver and DOT employee records are current according to all corporate guidelines.

    6. Ensures the timely gathering, data entry and statistical analysis of all job safety observations from assigned location/ locations into our safety management system.

    7. Ensures the timely communication of the previous job safety observations results on: 1) statistical deficiency analysis 2) employee participation in the job safety observation process vs. corporate goals for participation

    8. Helps ensure the timely completion and reporting of quarterly hose testing to the branch and corporate safety offices.

    9. Consults with account managers and field supervisors on an as needed basis to review job procedures for safe work practices.

    10. Helps ensure the maintenance of SDS's for chemicals used at his/ her assigned branch location/s.

    11. Conducts periodic facility/branch compliance audits to ensure Evergreen North America/GEM, OSHA, MSHA, EPA, State DEQ and DOT compliance standards.

    12. Works plant turnaround and shutdown schedules as required by branch management.

    13. Creates PowerPoint slides with monthly branch safety statistics for Monthly Operational Review (MOR) meetings

    14. Participates in all assigned plant contractor safety meetings and audits.

    15. Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with all plant safety and operational personnel.

    16. Helps ensure the gathering, assimilation and reporting of contractor qualification information when required.

    17. To be active with key clients organizations in a manner that will assure an understanding of the individual organizations policies and rules as well as input to their policy development

    18. Must be willing to work flexible hours during times of increased work activity

    19. Must be willing to take calls after hours in case of emergency or immediate customer need.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


    • Pass medical exam and drug test.


    • Able to Climb ladders and stairs as needed


    • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Educational:


    • Degree in Occupational health and safety and/or 5 years experience and a safety certification

    Work Experience:


    • 5 years of supervisor experience in Industrial Cleaning, Chemical, Refining, Paper, or Power industry.


    • Basic Understanding of the Federal, State and Local OSHA & DOT rules and regulations
