    Job Description:

    This position offers a 1st shift opportunity within the Milling Department, focusing on executing a series of intricate machine operations. Job runs typically entail 1-10 parts.

    RESPONSIBILITIES of the CNC Mechanist:

    • Program, set up, and operate Kunzmann CNC machines with Heidenhain Control.
    • Set up and operate CNC Vertical Machining Center - DMG 103-V.
    • Retrieve CNC programs and upload them to the machine.
    • Edit G-code and manually program using Heidenhain Control.
    • Establish fixturing and devise setups on the machine.
    • Conduct first piece and in-process quality inspections.
    • Set up cutters in holders and adjust height and length.
    • Interpret drawings/prints to identify operations, specifications, and tolerances.
    • Achieve precise tolerances and finishing requirements.
    • Utilize various hand tools to finish parts and conduct checks.
    • Employ measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers to ensure specifications are met.
    • Perform operator maintenance tasks like oiling, greasing, and cleaning the machine (5S).
    • Utilize forklift or crane to store and retrieve fixturing and other essential equipment.
    • Operate other machines in the department as required.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS for the CNC Mechanist:

    • Ability to lift heavy weights, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks.
    • Ability to work in various conditions such as extreme heat and noise levels.

      ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    Requirements
    • QUALIFICATIONS for the CNC Mechanist:
      • High school diploma required; advanced education or apprenticeship preferred.
      • 3-5 years of CNC experience preferred.
      • Proficiency in editing G-Code and manual programming preferred.
      • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to work from detailed and involved part drawings and specifications.
      • Willingness to move between work centers.
    • MUST HAVE:
      • High school diploma.
      • 3-5 years of CNC work experience.
      • Experience in interpreting part drawings and specifications for operations.
      • Experience in setting up machines, editing programming, reading GD&T, G and M code.
      • Experience in 5-axis machining, inspection of parts, mills, lathes, and saw operation/table saw.
