Position Overview
Alto is looking for a Payroll Coordinator who will support our growing payroll team in supporting the Miami, Dallas and Houston payroll functions. This position will report to the Head of Accounting and will support execution on various Payroll and HR initiatives. This is a hybrid position at our headquarters in Dallas.
What you'll do:
- Manage the Time and Attendance of the payroll processing for Miami, Dallas and Houston employees (hourly employees).
- Break management and importing
- Manual check generation as needed
- Labor code and departmental accuracy review
- Investigation of exceptions both through system notification and time card analysis
- Review other payroll system notifications
- Maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of weekly payroll transactions including general payroll, taxes, and other deductions.
- Answer local employee payroll-related questions.
- Process garnishments and manage communication with applicable agencies and employees.
- Management of unclaimed property and escheatment process for uncashed payroll checks.
- Work cross-functionally with local HR and Operations teams to continuously improve processes to enhance accuracy and driver experience.
- Continuously review laws, rules, and regulations that apply to the payroll functions and partner with other stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Assist compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Manage timekeeping and payroll systems and assist in any system or technology implementations.
- Ensure payroll data security and reporting standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.
- 1 + years of payroll related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including the preparation, balancing, internal control and payroll tax.
- Fluency in MSOffice (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides).
- The ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships in a team environment.
- Integrity and maintaining the confidential nature of information by protecting the privacy of our employees and their records.
- Strong analytical tendencies and proven experience solving problems with data.
- Must be able to operate autonomously in supporting stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, and technology.
