    The Facilities Manager will coordinate, manage and monitor activities of the district's Facilities functions.

    Oversee hired contractors to perform construction, alterations, maintenance and major day-to-day repairs to buildings, infrastructure and facilities for a multi-site organization.

    Plan and initiate projects to improve or effectively maintain facilities in a manner consistent with VDOT goals and available funding.

    Oversee district security operations.

    Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
    Considerable knowledge of construction, trades and overall facilities operations.
    Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
    Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering project plans for plan review.
    Ability to effectively plan and apply project management skills.
    Supervisory experience to include managing staff, programs and budgets.

    Experience in the areas of facilities construction, maintenance and repair, planning, project management, compliance and performing management and supervisory duties.

    A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field desired.

    VDOT is an emergency response agency, and this position may be required to assist during emergency operations, requiring work outside of normal work hours to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
