    Duties


    These positions are located in the RECC (Rehabilitation Extended and Community Care) Division, on the 9CN Unit. Heroes' Corner (9CN) is an 18-bed Palliative Care/Hospice Unit. The Nursing Staff provides high quality patient-centered care to our Veterans and their families.

    NA:

    Collaborative care is provided and supported at end-of-life as well as supportive care while Veterans are receiving Palliative chemotherapy and/or radiation.

    Our Nursing staff focuses on management of symptoms including pain, provision of psychosocial and spiritual support, and the application of comfort measures as an alternative to aggressive treatments.

    NA Major Duties:

    • Personal patient care including bathing, feeding, grooming, laundry and mobilizing with demonstration of skills which reflect the needs of the older adult
    • Appropriate support duties i.e., patient centered care, proper implementation of policies and procedures, use of good body mechanics, and assist in application and operation of specialized functional equipment
    • Support and participates in patient improvement/safety efforts
    • Support duties for treatment services such as specimen collection and facilitating attendance at scheduled therapies
    • Treatment duties such as finger sticks, bladder scan, mobility devices and restorative care
    • Integrates professional communication and excellent customer service when dealing with all internal and external customers.
    NA-RA:

    Our restorative care nursing program is utilized to maximize residents' level of function and minimize decline. Nursing staff promote person-centered care and participation in restorative activities by engaging residents in setting goals and decision making about their daily care.

    The Restorative Aide is a member of the unit leadership team and will work closely with the Case Manager and Division Restorative committees. This position requires a dependable, knowledgeable and caring individual who can think outside the box and provide quality care to this specialized population.

    Community Living Center experience preferred.

    NA-RA Major Duties:
    • The Restorative Aide maintains competency to perform restorative care modalities including Range of Motion (ROM), splint/brace assistance, bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, dressing, grooming, eating, swallowing, excellent communication and documentation. Safe Patient Handler Champion is also required for this role.
    • The Restorative Aide assists with training new staff and completion of competencies, planning and carrying out unit/individual activities, assist as needed with Nursing Assistant responsibilities, demonstrates knowledge and skills to care for residents' at end of life or receiving palliative treatments, provide skilled care for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments, actively participate in meetings including Watch List Huddle and Shift to Shift report.

    • 12 HOUR SHIFTS MAY BE AVAILABLE
    • Weekend and Federal holiday rotation and shift rotation required for 1st/Days employees.
