In this role, you will create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for our clients, supporting them in various tasks while promoting their independence. Your responsibilities will include assisting with self-care, medication compliance, meal preparation, housekeeping, and more. You will also help clients develop decision-making skills, schedule and attend appointments, and engage in their community.

Pay: $15.00

Shifts Available:

Option 1: 

Part Time 20 Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday (Ankney and West DSM)

Option 2:

Full Time 30: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Pleasant Hill, SSDSM, WDSM, and DSM)

Option 3:

Part Time 20: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (East Side DSM)

Option 4:

Part Time 20: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (Ankeny)

What You Will Do:

• Build relationships with the clients
• Plan outings that you will be present at for support
• Provide support to the clients with hobbies, studies, and social activities
• Read, write, and execute directions
• Charting and take notes
• Data entry, instant messaging, uploading documents
• Provide companionship and supportive listening
• Report changes in health and/or status of the client
• Respond to emergency situations
• Administer medication
• Transport clients to appointments
• Other duties as assigned

Our two departments for Direct Support Professionals Include Daily and Hourly:

DAILY Department

• 24/7 Services
• Structured 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm & 7pm-7am)
• Follows a 3- or 4-day workweek rotation, allowing full-time hours with many days off per month
• Daily positions exist for daytime, overnight, and 3-day weekend packages
• Pay includes weekday base rates and higher weekend premium rates
• Designed for staff who prefer predictable, consistent shift structures with fewer total working days

HOURLY Department

• Works shorter, traditional hourly shifts, often evenings or weekends
• Offers more flexible scheduling compared to the Daily department
• Straight, standard hourly pay (no daily-shift premium structure)
• Designed for staff who prefer flexibility, part-time hours, or variable schedules

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Licenses/Requirements:
  • Valid Class C Iowa Driver's License.
  • Proof of Automobile Insurance.
  • Must pass required background checks.
  • Access to a reliable computer and internet for documentation, or ability to travel to a location with access.
• Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and sensitivity while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ability to follow detailed Individual Support Plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality.

Work Environment
• Client home and community including but not limited to medical providers, retail stores, outdoor recreation, and indoor recreation
• Work and travel in all types of weather, including inclement weather

Travel
• During scheduled work hours
• Approved mileage and expenses are reimbursed

Physical Demands
• Bending, sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, driving, climbing stairs, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell, lifting and carrying.
• Must be able to lift and carry various items when supporting clients; including groceries, supplies and to provide physical assistance to clients as indicated in the client Individual Support Plan.

Salary Description
$15.00
