    Centennial Water & Sanitation District is seeking applicants for a summer SCADA Technician Intern. Successful applicants must have the desire to work as part of a great team and be willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.

    This is a paid internship with a semi-flexible schedule. Current students or recent graduates with an interest in water/wastewater management, resource management, engineering, biology, or chemistry are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Applicants must be hard-working, prompt, and responsible. You must be able to effectively work alone or with others. The position primarily assists with tasks involving the instrumentation and controls of Joseph Blake water and Marcy Gulch wastewater facilities, to include but not limited to calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment used in the collection, transportation, storage and processing of water and wastewater. Introductory programming of computerized process control equipment such as PLC's and SCADA system devices.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Learn about instrumentation and controls integral to water/wastewater treatment processes.
    • Assisting SCADA Technicians with daily duties.
    • Helping Leads with special projects.
    • Perform necessary tasks for corrective and preventive maintenance on instrumentation, electronic and electrical operating, and control systems.
    • Install and set up new equipment with moderate supervision.
    • Stay current on technical issues relative to the position.
    • Solve electronic system problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
    • Diagnose and repair electrical, power & control systems, varying voltages (from 5V DC to 480V AC) with moderate supervision.
    • Maintains calibration records for reportable measurements.
    • Respond to emergency callouts through a rotating on call system.
    • Performs work in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
    • At times, perform work in confined spaces, load, unload and transport equipment and personnel in District vehicles to a variety of work sites.
    • Perform other duties and special assignments, which may be outside the primary areas of employment.

    NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Establish and maintain respectful, professional working relationships with employees.
    • Safely and skillfully operate hand and power tools and other equipment.
    • Follow provided safety procedures for working around electrical controls and equipment and in confined spaces.
    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Read and modify electrical schematics. Basic familiarity with NEC standards.
    • Perform basic PLC code interpretation for troubleshooting and increased knowledge of system.
    • Basic understanding of various control system components including relay logic, 4-20mA analog signal, PLC I/O modules, and DC power supplies.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot control system components.
    • Complete basic modifications to electrical control systems with minimal supervision.
    • Basic computer skills.

    DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
    • Two years electronic trade school graduate or equivalent training and/ or experience, electrical wiring experience and troubleshooting desirable.
    • Experience using test and calibration equipment.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License with an acceptable motor vehicle record.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Able to respond to District Facilities in approximately 30 minutes while on emergency on-call.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED

    Works under direct supervision of the Lead SCADA Technician, takes direction from other SCADA Technicians.

    Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

    Work is performed in potentially hazardous environments (i.e. loud and/ or confined spaces, electrical, infectious, and mechanical hazards).
