- Assess, plan, execute, and assess patient care to ensure the best outcomes for patients of all age groups.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, patients, and families to create, implement, and evaluate a customized interdisciplinary care plan.
- Effectively manage resources, set priorities, and adapt the environment to meet patient care requirements.
- Contribute to enhancing practice standards and work environment by engaging in unit, hospital, and organizational activities that encourage staff involvement in decision-making processes.
- Act as a role model for clinical practice for colleagues, students, and medical professionals.
- Associate's degree or certification from a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Education) approved Respiratory Therapy school; preference for a bachelor's degree.
- Licensure as a respiratory care practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Successful completion of orientation and competency assessments relevant to the role.
- Ability to obtain BLS certification within three months of starting or as per department guidelines.
- In certain areas, ACLS, NRP, PALS certification may be required within the first year of employment. Active membership in professional organization (AARC) is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities are a must.
