related field). The Staff Engineer I should be actively working toward or have passed the EIT

The Staff Engineer provides support for other engineers and also works on individual projects.

limited to the exchange of information for specific projects, but more technical or challenging
questions are typically forwarded to the project engineer.
Typical responsibilities:
Perform preliminary reconnaissance visits for potential projects
Coordinate and conduct exploratory drilling for new projects (including installation of
piezometers, slope inclinometers, or other monitoring systems)
Perform construction observations and testing during construction
Prepare laboratory test requests for samples obtained during drilling
Develop site plans, cross sections, typical details, boring logs, and other figures for the report
preparation
Perform literature and aerial photograph searches
Prepare basic foundation investigation reports for small new construction projects
(subject to detailed review by supervising engineer)
Prepare construction observation and testing services (COTS) reports (subject to detailed
review by supervising engineer)
Assist with data organization (binders) for litigation projects
Perform laboratory tests
Under supervision and direct guidance from the supervising engineer, conduct analyses using
available software (CPeT‐IT, CLiq, Slide, Settle 3D, L‐Pile, etc.)
