    Job Summary:

    The EMS Lieutenant is responsible for all the daily duties of an EMT/Paramedic in addition to the responsibilities of the Lieutenant position as listed below. The Lieutenant would report directly to the Shift Captain with oversight from the Division Manager. The Lieutenant is expected to serve as Shift Captain in case of absence of the Shift Captain and assume responsibility for those additional duties during that shift.

    Compensation: The Lieutenant will be a paid employee on an hourly basis.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that the Station/Operational Hub meets and maintains AISB standards.
    • Organize, manage, & monitor station supplies (medical and office) and submit monthly needs request to your Shift Captain.
    • Maintain inventory of station supplies in a well-organized, AISB supply room.
    • Develop and oversee a rotating daily station duties roster to ensure all common areas are clean, organized, and with adequate space for operations.
    • Ensure areas for mechanical repairs are organized, hazard-free, clean, and comply with AISB standards.
    • Collaborate with Shift Captain and Division Manager to plan, organize, and implement new policies or procedures for operational hubs.
    • Assist in onboarding new locations/operational hubs in the service area.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Lieutenants should work independently and show accountability to define and achieve goals and objectives.
    • Possess knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures.
    • Show commitment to providing outstanding services and maintaining customer focus.
    • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills and flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
    • Keep Shift Captain informed on group activities and project progress.
    • Coordinate departmental employees for efficiency enhancement and facilitate harmony among individuals.
    • Assist in addressing and resolving questions and issues to drive solutions.
    • Operate emergency vehicles following regulations and laws with care for other motorists.
    • Vary work hours based on company scheduling needs, which may include overtime, nights, weekends, etc.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to all statutes, rules, and regulations related to certification and Emergency Medical Services.
    • Deliver effective written and verbal communication, respond to inquiries, and drive specific outcomes.
    • Help in analyzing risks and benefits of approaches, seeking resolution decisions.
    • Promote potential strategic alliances and partnerships.
    • Collaborate with others for positive interpersonal outcomes.
    • Continuously monitor progress and adapt tactics for handling situations effectively.
    • Assist in paperwork reconciliation for transported patients daily.
    • Maintain all credentials and strong clinical skills.
    • Attend training to stay updated on certifications and industry developments.
    • Remain flexible for assignment changes as needed.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Utilize critical thinking to resolve problems effectively.

    Education and Experience:

    • Hold a valid State EMS License at EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, or Paramedic level.
    • Possess a valid Driver's License and comply with company insurance requirements.
    • High school diploma required; prefer post-secondary education or equivalent experience.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Constant verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Visual acuity for patient care activities and computer work.
    • Stationary position and occasional movement within the office and ambulance.
    • Ability to lift over 200 lbs. with assistance and perform various physical tasks.
    • Operate office machinery and EMS equipment effectively.
    • Exchange accurate information with patients and medical staff consistently.
    • Successfully function in high-paced and potentially stressful environments.
    • Bend, kneel, squat, lift, and reach as required in patient care environments.
