    The Mesa, Arizona location of Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems Division produces automatic medium caliber gun systems.

    Position Summary:
    Supports production, business, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment.

    Performs activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process reengineering.

    The incumbent may facilitate self-directed work teams, provide training in core skill areas to teams and peers, and interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.

    Incumbents are generally experienced in one or more areas of manufacturing operations.

    The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in developing, documenting, and supporting assembly processes within a manufacturing environment.

    This role will work with a multi-disciplinary team to interpret assembly drawings and requirements, break down assembly processes to create procedures and work instructions within a manufacturing execution system (MES), and ensure manufacturing processes are clear, robust, error proofed, and repeatable.

    Support production with process document creation in machining, fabrication, subassembly, and final assembly. Expected to work closely and collaboratively with manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations teams. Strong ability to understand processes, routers, and instructions used to machine and assemble mechanical items. Applicant shall have good communication skills and ability to transfer knowledge, train people, and work in a team environment.

    Key responsibilities include the following:
    Own the research, writing, editing and creation of manufacturing standard operating procedures, processes, and work instructions that are simple, clear, error proofed, and repeatable

    Enhance existing instructions with 3D models, pictures, and diagrams

    Prepare process flows and assembly work instructions for assembly technicians using an MES system (i.e. Solumina MES)

    Prepare assembly instructions using visualization software such as SolidWorks Composer

    Support implementation of engineering change orders

    Understand and support review of assembly drawings and instructions

    Support process development for new initiatives including process enhancements, new equipment operating procedures, 6S implementation, etc


    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
    Our position emphasizes skills.


    7 years of experience required, will consider a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience or a Master's degree with a minimum of 1 years of relevant experience.

    Relevant experience includes but not limited to experience with formal writing or technical procedural writing


    Must have superior written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel to create and improve document content and enhance the end user experience.

    Ability to edit and create visuals, graphics, diagrams, and tables for technical support/document content

    Ability to interpret assembly drawings to meet customer requirements

    Solid understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, specifically related to mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies

    Organized, flexible, and schedule multiple tasks successfully

    Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with MES and/or software that maintains routings and production data

    Experience with MRP software (SAP, CostPoint, etc)

    Experience with PLM Software (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc)

    Experience with using 3D modeling software (Solidwork, NX, Pro-E, etc)

    Experience working with Aerospace/Military standards and implementation of standards across cross-functional teams


    This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.

    Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor


    Salary Range:
    $62,200 - $93,400


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

    In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
