    To ensure departmental teaching lab needs are met.

    This position is primarily responsible for preparing all of the chemical solutions/reagents for a variety of Chemistry classes, as well as dispensing needed supplies to students and University members.

    Primary Function of Organizational Unit


    The Primary purpose of the Department of Chemistry is to provide educational experiences and course work that lead to both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry and Chemistry Education.

    Additionally, the department offers the bulk of the physical science electives for all students enrolled at the University, to fulfill its purposes, the Department offers a variety of courses, laboratory classes and research experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

    Although the primary purpose is to produce B.S. and M.S. majors, the Department's efforts to provide much-needed service courses for the University's non-Chemistry majors are significant in scope.


    Work Hours 8:00AM-5:00PM Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.

    Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies

    Required Competency Knowledge - Technical Duties

    Considerable knowledge of common laboratory chemicals and apparatus. Considerable knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, equipment and terminology used in chemistry and biochemistry. Ability to use and demonstrate fundamental scientific instruments. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions relating to various teaching laboratory protocols.

    Required Competency Laboratory Management Duties


    Preparation of reagents and cleaning laboratory apparatus each week for the general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and physical science lab classes.

    Place equipment and chemicals in each of the teaching labs and replenish as needed

    Required Competency Laboratory Management Duties


    Manage the laboratory safety protocols, codes and regulations and procedures · Ability to communicate procedures and regulations to staff and students and teaching assistants.
