Job summary
Under general supervision and according to specific and detailed procedures accurately performs specific pre-analytical tasks such as prioritizing incoming specimens Processes patient specimens in accordance with department safety OSHA guidelines Ensures stats other critical tests are accurately immediately processed Documents specimen problems refers supervisor or lead designee Draws blood samples patients physicians order departmental safety OSHA guidelines verifies patients identification collects insurance information Generates attaches labels specimen/blood samples Performs specimen processing aliquoting established test requirements Ensures integrity verifying patient identification ensures sample submitted appropriate given requested test Sorts racks delivers specimens appropriate testing laboratory Accurately enters reviews laboratory test data laboratory computer system Detects corrects errors laboratory policies quality standards Communicates with patients explain procedures answers routine questions physicians nurses healthcare professionals Verifies request Maintains neat clean work area Stocks storage supplies inventories necessary Cleans glassware equipment small instruments Performs transportation duties delivers reports Timestamps computer verifies all requests May order tests system Conduct routine inspection maintenance quality control checks equipment Records temperatures Reports unusual timely supervisor lead designee Prepares patient administers tolerance tests assigned area Performs variety clerical duties answering telephone scheduling appointments maintaining records relaying message personnel Self-monitors individual behavior performance makes improvements Communicates training development needs management Complies with departmental safety policies procedures OSHA guidelines applicable personal protective equipment Responsible check organizational communication daily Outlook posted notices etc Performs related assigned
