- Develops and implements regional economic policy issues related to Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
- Participates in and supports multilateral negotiations and serves as the U.S. and/or Department of State representative to designated APEC steering and working groups.
- Collaborates within Department of State and with other U.S. government agencies with APEC-related issues and supports senior officials on relevant regional issues, as well as backing up colleagues on various portfolios.
- Monitors developing international economic situations and issues; evaluates economic information gathered and assessments by interested organizations and entities.
- Analyzes funding requirements and budget proposals for resource implications, prepares justification memoranda for review and appropriate approval; and evaluates program effectiveness.
- At the 11 and 12 level, the incumbent performs essentially the same duties as outlined; however, the scope and complexity of assignments are of less responsibility and independence and receive closer supervision than at the GS 13 level.
