    Title and Summary

    Principal Software Engineer, Platform Engineering Overview

    The US Open Banking Platform Engineering team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to drive the development and future of our development and deployment platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), highly motivated, technically curious, an eliquent speaker, and possesses the ability to lead large technical projects.

    In this technical leadership position, you will:

    • Partner with SRE, Engineering and Infrastructure to automate everything, improve workflows and design and deliver solutions.

    • Own and be soley responsible for the technical capabilities and design of our Internal Developer Platform (IDP).

    • Take responsibility our developer experience and how things get to production.

    • Create alignment across multiple departments and groups.

    • Push the vision of our developer experience forward.

    • Own the standards, security, scalability and compliance of our deployment systems.

    All About You

    The ideal candidate for this position should:

    • Look at everything through the eyes of our engineers and see their needs and how to make their lives easier, more efficient while enforcing standards and security.

    • Have a vision for our IDP that focuses on delivering a great customer experience.

    • Be a thought leader on what's happening in the industry on internal developer platforms and CI/CD.

    • Go out of your way to get close to the engineering teams to find out what their needs are and how the platform team can help.

    • Build a vision and next steps for how the platform will evolve, support new features and scale.

    • Do demos of new features within the platform or demos for business stakeholders.

    • Guide and develop out the minimal viable product with lead engineers on new features.

    In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
