JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, support and clinical oversight of all residents.
Under the direction of the Administrator, the director of Nursing is accountable for the day-to-day nursing operations at the site including; nursing strategy, ensuring quality measures are maintained to improve resident care, and resident experience at Rosa Coplon.
Develops and implements site specific resident-focused management programs, nursing practice guidelines, nursing quality indicators, innovative financial plans and evidence based practices.
This position is responsible for the development of nurse managers through coaching, mentoring and evaluation and cultivating a positive, constructive leadership environment.
The DON will drive programs and initiatives that improve nurse/staff retention.This position will also be responsible for overseeing the integration of the care delivery system at the site so that resident care needs are met within financial, DOH and other regulatory and evidence-based regulations and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Consistently observes safety and security procedures. Reports potentially unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
Under the direction of the Administrator the Director of Nursing will be responsible for the oversight and managing the delivery of high quality patient care at the site.
Provides leadership, direction and strategic vision to nursing management and administrative staff to ensure clear lines of responsibility and accountability within departments and between departments and administration.
Coordinates facility departments to enhance quality of care and appropriate relations with patients and families.Is responsible with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of care delivery models and services that meet or exceed customer expectations which are evidence-based, customer-focused, collaborative and multidisciplinary.
Participates in the site dissemination of Weinberg Campus's vision, culture, strategy and key initiatives to enhance the viability of the site.
Participates in policy decisions affecting patient care services at relevant levels of the site. Makes decisions in accordance with the philosophy and mission of Weinberg Campus.Acts as a patient care advocate by addressing concerns with the administrative members and appropriate residents and responsible parties. Establishes site specific nursing practice guidelines consistent with Weinberg Campus policy.
Oversees the development of programs, policies and to ensure that clinical standards and policies required to achieve nursing and patient care goals are in compliance with Department of Health regulations.
Assumes facility administration responsibilities as assigned and in the absence of the Administrator.Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergencies.
Complies with all quality assurance, customer focus, infection control, safety and all other policies and procedures within the department and Weinberg Campus.
Takes a lead role in the development of systems to continuously monitor and measure the quality, safety, patient satisfaction and appropriateness of services.
Focuses on the use of tools, expertise and applications for quality improvement. Ensures that applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations are followed.May participate in evaluating, selecting, and integrating health care technology and information management systems that support patient care needs and the efficient utilization of resources.
Is able to integrate technology changes with patient care procedures. Maintains a focus on nursing education, continuing education, and continuing development.Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and protocols that are integrated across the organization to ensure that the competency requirements, mission, values, and financial objectives are met.
Participates in the development and implementation of mechanisms for recognizing the expertise and performance of nursing staff members engaged in patient care.
Works in collaboration with Human Resources on the development and implementation of programs that improve the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff as necessary to promote quality care delivery.
Active participant in the hiring and on boarding process.Establishes and maintains a strong effective working relationship with organized labor representatives.
Operate the nursing department to always be survey ready.
Successful results with DOH surveys/hot line calls.
Accomplish and maintain 5/5 star rating in quality and care.
