Northern State University is seeking a talented and experienced Web Specialist to join our team and play a leading role in enhancing our internal and external web presence.
Note: This position is located on campus
Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of the Web Specialist is to research, develop, publish and maintain the display of information for Northern websites and related applications through templates, content, artwork, design standards, content management systems and admin interfaces. Housed in Technology Services, this position works collaboratively with Communications and Marketing to create effective sites using solid UI/UX principles for external and internal audiences. The position also applies usability and analytical skills to assess web effectiveness, timeliness and accessibility. Other responsibilities of this position include management of the university's intranet and mobile app.
Job Duties
* Research, develop, publish and maintain information on university websites;
* Identify and remediate web accessibility issues to ensure compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG);
* Implement search engine optimization techniques to enhance the visibility and usability of our website;
* Utilize Google Analytics to analyze website traffic and user behavior, providing critical insights for website enhancements;
* Administer the university intranet/portal and mobile app and provide training and support for contributors;
* Work collaboratively with developers to enhance and maintain the CMS (Drupal 10+) and content presentation;
Qualifications
* Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, marketing or related field is required, Bachelor's degree preferred
* Proven experience with Content Management Systems such as Drupal and SharePoint;
* Experience utilizing CSS/html and Javascript to enhance presentation of content;
* Experience in design and development of intranets is preferred;
* Knowledge of ADA and WCAG compliance;
* Knowledge and experience utilizing website analytics and reporting;
* Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment;
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Effective at building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
* Flexibility and adaptability to the changing world of technology, staying abreast of trends and incorporating them into our web presence;
