    Description

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The Trading Analyst works on the deals desk as a central point connecting Trading, Operations, Risk, and Finance to ensure effective real-time decision making and reporting. Day-to-day operations require working on market analysis and trade evaluation that then translates into financial models and deal sheets. Responsibilities will vary and include modeling and reporting trades across multiple products and tracking market exposure as part of the overall hedging strategy. The employee will provide an in-depth analysis to traders regarding pricing methods, trade volumes, and paper markets to assist in overall decision making.

    • Deal management for multiple products, from provisional through final actualization.
    • Allocate all physical and financial transactions to appropriate trade strategy.
    • Analyze exposure and mark-to-market profit and loss on physical and financial positions.
    • Monitor all costs associated with physical trades and report discrepancies between provisioned and actual values.
    • Ensure all market price risk is captured and hedge actions executed in line with trade strategies.
    • Apply forward curve on daily basis for physical and derivative markets to current position and to explain the impact on the trading P&L.
    • Produce daily commentary for traders to explain the change in the trading profit/loss due to market changes for each deal.
    • Provide analytical support and expertise to identify possible trading opportunities, generate trade strategies and identify market and pricing trends.
    • Develop models and dashboards to help understand, forecast, and visualize supply/demand balances.
    • Take initiative to continuously improve existing processes, tools, and models with the aim of improving overall performance and reliability.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Job Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or other energy-related fields.
    • 2+ years of previous analytics experience in supply and trading.
    • Comprehensive understanding of trading models and trading strategies and exposures that arise out of them.
    • Cross-product or Multiple Region experience is beneficial.
    • Expertise in Trading and Risk Management System (Allegro preferred).
    • Advanced excel/coding skills: Python, R, VBA, SQL, C++
    • Database querying and data management skills.
    • Must have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of management.
    • Ability to work independently and without supervision, ensuring deadlines are strictly adhered to in a fast-paced environment.
    • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
    • Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
