    Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, ELL, and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees: Information Technology - Application Development, Diesel Technology, Applied Management (Business), Behavioral Healthcare and Teacher Education.

    In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Since the college is committed to the success of all students, Centralia College also provides educational programs at two corrections centers in southwest Washington - Garrett Heyns Education Center located in Shelton, Washington and the Cedar Creek Corrections Center located in Littlerock, Washington. In addition to Green Hill School in Chehalis, Washington. In total, the college serves more than 7,000 students annually.     Job Description Centralia College is currently seeking applicants to teach SOC& 101: Introduction to Sociology at its program at Green Hill School in Chehalis. Green Hill School is a medium/maximum security fenced facility that provides older males sentenced to Juvenile Rehabilitation treatment with education and vocational training. To find out more about the school visit here. This is an on-campus assignment at Green Hill with face-to-face instruction in the afternoon two days a week. The successful applicant must be available to teach Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Additional opportunities may arise in the future to teach online; at the college's main campus in Centralia; it's satellite campus in Morton, WA; within correctional facilities in the area; or in partnership with the Chehalis Tribal Center in Oakville, WA.Successful applicants will need to pass additional screening and background review required by Green Hill School. Duties and Responsibilities Sociology instructors are responsible for teaching a variety of courses, including Introduction to Sociology and Social Problems. The immediate need for Summer 2023 is to teach SOC& 101: Introduction to Sociology at Green Hill School.Qualifications Master's or higher degree in sociology or a closely-related fieldTeaching experiencePreferred Qualifications Teaching experience at a community college level.Previous experience working with incarcerated populations.Skill in increasing inclusivity and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students.Ability to adapt teaching to various student learning styles.Demonstrated experience effectively and respectfully working with students, staff, and colleagues of various cultural, ethnic, racial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, college learning management systems (Canvas), and other appropriate instructional technologies.Conditions of Employment
