Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
o Assists in providing care for patients receiving radiation treatments; writes appropriate orders, including those for perioperative orders, narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs.
o Performs emergency life-saving procedures in cases such cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage, or similar catastrophe.
o Perform detailed H & P examinations and document inpatient H & P, and discharge summaries in the medical record.
o Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate implementation of therapeutic plans, consistent with healthcare needs of the patient
o Performs examination for follow-ups and patients receiving radiation treatments.
o Review medical records of patients of the supervising medical staff member.
o Routine patient rounds to monitor and evaluate clinical status; change in status to be reported to supervising medical staff member for management.
o Notifies attending physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
o Dispense/prescribe medication, as authorized by supervising medical staff member.
o Issue oral and written orders on behalf of the supervising medical staff member, to be reviewed and countersigned by the supervising medical staff
o Write or dictate reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record
o Scrub with supervising surgeon in operating room.
o Remove catheters, drains, sutures, and staples.
o Surgically close wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, dressing
o Assist physician with special diagnostic procedures
Qualifications:
Education/Training
MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required or Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
Licensure/Certification
Florida ARNP license or Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Florida
Licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board or nationally certified by the NCCPA for Physician Assistants.
Maintains current BLS certification.
