Nature of Work
The City of Everett Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Day Laborers. This employment is temporary (up to six months in duration). It is mandatory that the employee in this position contribute to the This contribution is refundable upon the employees request at the completion of employment. A work permit fee of $12.00 per pay period must also be paid to AFSCME Local No. 113. These positions are not provided with City of Everett benefits.
NATURE OF WORK
This is unskilled work performing a variety of physical tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of city streets, storm drains, sewer and water systems. Duties may include, but are not limited to, grounds keeping, painting, errands, general cleaning, pick and shovel work, and assisting crews with routine or special projects. Grounds keeping may include the use of various equipment such as weedeater, pressure washer, hand and power lawn mowers and power hedge trimmer.

Day Laborer positions are not entitled to any benefits (including, but not limited to, vacation, sick leave, or insurance), except as required by applicable law or collective bargaining agreement.
While not members of the AFSCME union, Day Laborers who perform AFSCME work are required to pay a work permit fee of up to $12.00 per pay period.
