    Job Title: Vice President Aviation

    Department: Aviation

    Reports to: President CIS and Aviation

    Summary: Manage the General Aviation underwriting and policy production of the HFS national General Aviation department. Monitor overall underwriting and profitability of the General Aviation book of business and expand new products as appropriate. Monitor and implement pricing and distribution changes as necessary and appropriate.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage, oversee and expand the current HFS General Aviation portfolio.
    • Ensure strict adherence to target metrics and ratios as determined with supervisor.
    • Supervise daily underwriting team activities ensuring effective risk solicitation, selection, pricing, and retention of desirable business.
    • Ensure compliance with approved General Aviation underwriting guidelines and individual underwriter authority statements.
    • Monitor premium and loss data for the General Aviation portfolio with the primary aim of profitability across all segments in all states.
    • Track new and renewal pricing for the General Aviation portfolio.
    • Collaborate with actuarial, compliance, product development, claims, and legal teams when establishing/adjusting rates and/or forms and creating new products.
    • Engage in the financial management and budgeting process for the Aviation unit and oversee expenses for areas of responsibility.
    • Act as the primary contact for current distribution sources concerning General Aviation and seek new and renewal business.
    • Explore new distribution sources and provide recommendations on accepting/rejecting applicants.
    • Represent the organization at various industry events.
    • Support, advise, and consult with other managers and supervisors as needed.
    • Participate in and contribute to reinsurance treaty meetings and negotiations.
    • Collaborate with IT on implementing enhanced technology, systems, and automation improvements.
    • Attend meetings and due diligence audits as required by the parent company.
    • Generate reports and projects as requested by the supervisor.

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Eight to ten years of experience in the General Aviation line of business with a solid grasp of financial and operational mechanisms.
    • Four or more years of managerial experience leading underwriting teams and support personnel.
    • Preference for a pilot's license.
    • Ability to grasp business requirements and translate them into system needs for effective communication with others.
    • Detail-oriented with a team-oriented work approach, adaptable to changing daily demands and tasks.
    • Proficient in analyzing and resolving issues, collaborating closely with others to organize and complete projects effectively.
    • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Fulfill supervisory duties in line with Company policies and procedures. Responsibilities may include interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, disciplining or coaching employees, addressing grievances, and resolving issues within the department.

    Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or five to ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

    • CPCU (preferred)

    Computer Skills

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
