Dr. Ivan Duran is the Superintendent of Highline Public Schools.

He has served over 30 years in public education and previously was the Chief of Acceleration and Recovery for the Renton School District (RSD).

Prior to joining RSD, from 2017 to 2021, Dr. Duran served as superintendent for the Bellevue School District (BSD) in Bellevue, WA. As superintendent, Dr.

Duran led with a focus on racial equity and inclusion, creating integrated systems to support academic, social-emotional and behavior development for all students.

Guided by a clear vision, mission, value system and strategic plan, he learned a lot from student experiences and continually examined BSD's efforts to make a difference in the life of each student.

Dr.

Duran served as deputy superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) with approximately 160,000 students in pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade in 227 schools.

Dr.

Duran has also served as assistant superintendent for elementary education for Denver Public Schools (DPS) where he led and supervised the system's Elementary Education Division of more than 90 early childhood centers, elementary and K-8 schools.

Dr.

Duran's core values include a passionate commitment to educational equity, dedication to continuous improvement aimed at success and a collaborative and transparent leadership style.

Dr. Duran holds a doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy Study from the University of Denver.
