    Visiting Instrumental Jazz Coordinator/Applied Brass


    MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY invites applications for a one-year full-time Visiting Professor of Music to serve as Coordinator of Instrumental Jazz Studies.

    This position involves coordinating all aspects of the instrumental jazz program; directing Jazz Band I or other ensembles as needed; and teaching applied lessons (classical & jazz). Additional teaching assignments may include music theory/aural skills, commercial arranging, improvisation, and instrumental methods classes based on the successful candidate's skills and experience. The selected individual is expected to engage in recruitment and retention initiatives;performing roles within the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra and Faculty Jazz Ensemble are also required.

    Candidates demonstrating commitment to academic advising, entrepreneurship, and community outreach will receive strong consideration. A unique aspect of this role is working with a vibrant community comprised by faculty members who provide diverse musical experiences through various degrees such as Performance Music Education Commercial Music Music Business Bachelor Arts degree Bakercurriculum embracing interdisciplinarity inclusive approach – partaking students learning third stakeholders disciplines applying professional success environment meaning value quality life.
