    Job Description

    The OCI Hospitality Internship program offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and first-hand practical experience in many aspects of hotel operations. This opportunity will provide exposure to multiple departments while developing relationships with leaders and employees in the field. Rotations will be provided in the following departments: Front Desk, Housekeeping, Sales & Catering, Engineering, Management, and People & Culture.


    Job Details

    Schedule: 11 to 14-week Program, with flexibility to experience all shifts and departments

    Job Type: Temporary Full-Time

    Pay Range: $16-19, but may vary by market

    Work Locations: Multiple locations available. You will be prompted to share which location(s) you are interested in as you submit your application.

    Internship Qualifications and Skills

    To be successful in this role, you need a professional demeanor, a warm and welcoming personality, and must be able to engage easily and actively connect with others. Be genuinely caring and compassionate and visibly demonstrate desire to understand others. Create confidence and trust, while communicating the right message at the right time. Be comfortable conversing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and at all organizational levels. Be direct yet tactful and considerate of audience. Speak with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Maintain awareness of undesirable persons on premises. Clean professional appearance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.


    What You Bring:

    • Experience in hospitality, service, or customer-facing role with some leadership experience is preferred.
    • Able to work on rotating shifts (including overnight) and be flexible in terms of schedule.
    • Excellent attention to detail and are a self-starter.
    • Excellent communication skills, are eager to learn and grow, have a can-do attitude, and have an affinity for hospitality.

    What you will be doing:

    • Receive training and mentorship from our team of professional managers.
    • Participate in projects and management meetings to enrich the learning experience.
    • Take a deep dive into mastering the skills of a front-line hospitality position and walk out at the end of the summer with a solid experience to add to your resume.
    • Rotate through the functional areas of the property to gain an understanding of how each department contributes to the success of the hotel and restaurant.
    • Develop skills and leadership under the guidance of the departmental leaders through hands-on work and shadowing.
    • Assist guests when needed.
    • Learn the operational workings of each department by observation of team members, participation in meetings, asking questions, and special departmental projects.
    • Provide input into the development and implementation of services and processes.
    • Comply with company policies and procedures of each department in a satisfactory manner.
    • Assist each department head with assigned operational functions and help with strategic plan for the department.
    • Completing tasks by utilizing and learning systems, tools, equipment, and software that apply.
    • A hospitality intern is responsible for assisting the management team in providing the best service for our guests.
    • Assist the Sales Team in prospecting for future business.
    • Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed under the supervision of a manager and tenured staff.
    • Work with the housekeeping team to understand the role they play in the operation.
    • Assist the laundry workers in the performance of their duties.
    • Assist the front office team in taking reservations, checking guests in and out, and handling guest requests.
    • Maintains a work area that adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service.
    • Adheres to daily operating and safety procedures.
    • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

    Additional Internship Responsibilities:

    • Attend Biweekly Intern Meetings.

    The ideal candidate for this position will be:

    • Pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's degree, or a recent graduate with such degree.
    • Studying in the Hospitality, Business, or other related field highly preferred.
    • The intern is expected to display passion in all they do and have an eager drive to fulfill a Career in the Hospitality sector.
    • Prior Hospitality experience preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate.
    • Capable of a 11-week minimum commitment from mid-May to early-August.
    • Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in the United States.

    Will I need to provide my own housing and transportation?

    • Yes Housing and transportation are not provided, but a substantial number of summer sublets are available in the local community. Many of these sublets are within walking distance of a bus line.
