    Section III. Professional Skills

    • Utilizes the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the client's care.
    • Assess clients; collects and documents the client's current health status and medical history. Completes and/or reviews Admission Data Record as defined by policy. Makes accurate and ongoing assessment of client's status and responds appropriately.
    • Documents accurate and ongoing assessment of client status. Documents client care to include nursing intervention, client response to care provided, client needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, and progress toward goals.
    • Communicates with physicians regarding client needs, the nursing assessments, and recommendations on a daily basis.
    • Collaborates with other nurses and health team members to ensure the client's well-being.
    • Performs direct client care, utilizing established procedures, policies, and standards including: medication administration, evaluating and interpreting diagnostic tests, observing and documenting client's response to pertinent medications, providing client care designed to meet the client's physiological and psychological needs.
    • Performs indirect client care utilizing established procedures, policies, and standards including: communicating pertinent information to the appropriate person in a timely manner, giving a thorough, concise report at change of shift, and accurately transcribing physician orders. Ensures that supplies and equipment necessary for client care are available and stored in an organized and efficient manner. Demonstrates correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.
    • Ensures that verbal and written physician orders are safe and appropriate. Accepts, follows through, and documents verbal telephone orders from physician in client chart. Maintains documentation related to ESI, nursing assessments, nursing shift progress notes, lab slips, and related nursing procedures.
    • Participates in and assists with the initial treatment plan and the treatment planning process. Communicates with members of the treatment team information related to the client's medical care and behavior.
    • Provides Safe and Positive Approaches (S&PA) by responding to crises as they occur and assisting in preventing crises where possible. Utilizes physical intervention techniques appropriate to the degree of threat to the safety of the client and others and in accordance with Our S&PA standards.
    • Educates clients, families, and others on health and wellbeing and disease prevention.
    • Maintains compliance with all training/learning requirements and takes initiative in seeking opportunities for professional growth.

    Section IV. Job Specifications

    EDUCATION:

    Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.


    EXPERIENCE:
    Previous clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare setting strongly preferred.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of lbs. or more.

    Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Proficient use of computers and office equipment.

    Infrequent driving of Our vehicles for business purposes.

    Ability to meet 100% mastery of position-required S&PA techniques.


    CORE CURRICULUM (recommended training): As required annually by licensing agencies and Our (organization and Center-Specific modules).


    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:
    Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated.

    Some fluctuations in temperature.

    May have to perform some duties outside and will need to move between buildings and perhaps between campuses.

    Protective equipment latex gloves, facial mask protective eyewear, and gowns are provided when needed. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

    Physical involvement in the exercise of S&PA intervention techniques.
